Couldn't hear what was being recorded. Needs a pre amp to do that and that was not spelled out in the ad.Couldn't insert markers to mark beginning.end of tracks without being able to monitor them.
I bought this as a gift for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. One improvement he suggested is the patch cords need to be longer so that he can sit on the entertainment center neatly with the other electronic equipment.
I have hundreds of albums from the 70's and 80's and now am able to enjoy them again. The turntable is quality and the sound is great - make sure to get a decent set of speakers.I would buy it again - it was a great price at $112.
Having tried several of USB turntables of other friends, we have found this to be the best. Software works fine, and the unit has great sound quality, given you de-static and clean your records before playing/ripping them.
I like the fact that the tone arm moves automatically so that I can just put a record on the platter, close the lid and hit start. I'm very happy with this Sony turntable. It may not have the sound quality or metal construction of some of the professional options out there, but it's a perfectly good turntable for home use. The pre-amp is perfectly good for my setup and I'm very happy with the sound quality. I haven't tried the USB ripping feature so I can't comment on that but I think this is a great turntable for the price.
